Storage Faqs

Leases run month to month, with no long-term commitment. Rent for a single season or for years, and give notice when you are ready to move out.

Sizes run from a 5 × 5 that holds a few boxes up to a 10 × 30 that can take a full household. The Size Guide compares them side by side, and the Storage Calculator turns a description of what you are storing into a starting size.

If you are between two sizes, the larger one is usually the cheaper mistake.

The property is gated, so entry is controlled rather than open to anyone driving past, and video surveillance covers the site. The buildings are kept clean and maintained.

Self storage everywhere excludes the same broad categories: flammable, explosive or hazardous materials such as fuel, paint and propane; perishable food; living things, whether plants or animals; and anything illegal. Your signed lease is the authority on the full list.

Still to confirm with CapRock

  • Gate access hours and office hours
  • Whether you bring your own lock or buy one on site
  • Accepted payment methods and whether autopay is offered
  • Whether tenant insurance or a protection plan is required
  • Whether this property uses Noke smart locks, which the SROA reference page documents for the same building

Until these are confirmed, contact us or call the office and we will answer directly.

City Information

About Lubbock

Lubbock is the largest city on the South Plains of West Texas and the seat of Lubbock County. It is known as the Hub City because it functions as the commercial, medical and educational centre for a wide stretch of surrounding farmland, pulling in far more people than its own population of roughly a quarter of a million would suggest.

Getting around

Interstate 27 runs north to south through the city, Loop 289 rings it, and US 84, the Marsha Sharp Freeway, carries traffic out to the west.

Work and study

Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center anchor both the local economy and the city's character, and the student population turns over enough each year to keep storage in steady demand. Lubbock Christian University and a Lubbock campus of South Plains College add to that. On the healthcare side, Covenant Health and University Medical Center are among the largest employers in the region.

Outside the campuses and hospitals, agriculture still defines the surrounding South Plains, where cotton is the dominant crop. Families moving for a job at the university, the hospitals or in agribusiness make up a good share of the people who need a unit for a few months.

Schools and neighbourhoods

Lubbock is served by several districts, principally Lubbock ISD, along with Frenship ISD to the west and Lubbock-Cooper ISD to the south. Households moving between these districts, or in and out of the neighbourhoods around Texas Tech, are a common reason for a short-term unit while a sale or a lease lines up.

Things to do

The Buddy Holly Center and the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences mark the city's best-known musical export. Texas Tech is home to the National Ranching Heritage Center, and the Lubbock Lake Landmark preserves an archaeological site on the northern edge of town. The Depot District carries much of the city's live music and nightlife, and Lubbock sits at the centre of the Texas High Plains, which grows a large share of the state's wine grapes.

Military

Reese Air Force Base, west of the city, closed in 1997, and the site now operates as Reese Technology Center, a research and business park. There is no longer an active installation in Lubbock itself, though service members relocating through the region still store here. See military storage for how month-to-month terms fit a PCS timeline.
