As a rough guide, allow about 50 square feet of storage for each bedroom you are clearing. A studio fits a 5 × 10, a one to two bedroom home a 10 × 10, and a three to four bedroom home a 10 × 24. A few boxes and seasonal things fit a 5 × 5.
If you are between two sizes, take the larger one. A few dollars more a month costs less than a second trip, and a unit packed to the ceiling is a unit you cannot get into.
